Indonesian films with madani (civil, faith-infused) nuances are increasingly on the rise, spanning diverse themes and genres — from ruqyah and the barzakh cinematic universe to stories of infidelity within families. In collaboration with Madani Fest, @binusfilm invites Prof. @rahayu_mundi, whose research focuses on the representation of women in Islamic films, to discuss the evolving landscape and future direction of madani cinema in Indonesia. From the industry perspective, we also welcome screenwriter @lelelaila, the writer behind Qorin, Pemandi Jenazah, and Kitab Sijjin dan Illiyin — the latter two will be screened for free at @binus_alsut following the conclusion of the online discussion.
