About this Session
Deep in the misty mountains of Papua, Maira, a fearless 12-year-old indigenous girl, fights to protect the only home she has ever known. When Tegar, a spirited 11-year-old boy with a physical disability, arrives from the city, he sees the paradise his late grandfather once spoke of —only to find it under siege. A powerful corporation is destroying the sacred rainforest, threatening Maira’s village and the fragile balance of nature. Blending folklore, music, and breathtaking landscapes, Maira: Whisper from Papua is a poetic tribute to resilience, friendship, and the fight for a home that cannot speak for itself.
